Agricultural Safety and Health
The Agricultural Safety and Health Program includes an
academic program within the Department of Agricultural Engineering, College
of Environmental, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences in Urbana-Champaign
and a continuing education and outreach program based at the University
of Illinois School of Public Health in Chicago. The goal of the academic
program is to provide a basic foundation in agricultural safety and health
for students seeking careers in agricultural and rural-related professions.
This training is available as elective courses offered to graduate students
from the Colleges of Agriculture, Engineering, Medicine, and School of
Public health. The Continuing Education and Outreach component at the
School of Public Health is a founding member of the Illinois Network
for Agriculture Safety and Health (INASH). INASH is a coalition of over
25 organizations involved with agricultural safety and health and provides
a forum for training, information dissemination, and collaboration on
preventive programs. The Agricultural Safety and Health Program has also
been active in addressing agricultural safety and health problems in
Latin America as part of the Great Lakes Center's international mission.
