Urban Health and Diversity Programs (UHDP)
Welcome to the Urban Health and Diversity Programs (UHDP) of the UIC School of Public Health. Our mission is to recruit, retain, and graduate underrepresented racial/ethnic minority students, specifically African Americans, Latinos, and Native Americans, in the health professions, and to expand educational opportunities for these populations at the pre-college (K-12), undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels. Housed within the School of Public Health, our office is here to help students from pre-application and orientation, through matriculation and graduation. Please feel free to visit our office in SPHPI, room 152, if you have any questions or concerns. For a closer look at our dedication to diversity, please read our recent article in HealthViews, a publication for SPH Alumni here.
In addition to these efforts, the UHDP developed and funded Minority Students for the Advancement of
Public Health (MSAPH), so as to allow direct input of minorities into the affairs of the school, the community and general public health enterprise. This minority student organization addresses public health issues paramount to underrepresented minority populations with further information located here. Please be sure to look out for exciting on-campus events organized by the Urban Health Program and MSAPH organization each semester.
