Transportation / BicyclesGetting Here

Chicago is recognized nationally as a Bike Friendy Community, and UIC's location puts it well within the city's ever-expanding bike infrastructure. It's easy to get to UIC by bike!

Spend a few minutes considering your route.  Take a look at Chicago’s online bike map.  If you would rather spend less time in traffic, you might want to consider riding along the Lakefront Pathway or more residential streets.  If you are comfortable with traffic, remember to keep a safe distance from the “door zone," which is the space between you and parked cars.  Check with other UIC students and faculty on the I Bike UIC Facebook page or an app like MapMyRide for route suggestions.

Remember, it’s okay to start slowly.  Commuting by bike is not an all-or-none proposition.  You can simply bike to the nearest Metra/CTA station and either park at the station or carry your bike to your destination (see Bikes on Transit).
