Student Life at the College

Our location at the heart of one of the world’s great cities places UIC professional and graduate students in close proximity to unsurpassed opportunities for clinical experiences, research collaborations and cultural enrichment.

Much like the multi-cultural population of Chicago, ethnic and racial majorities are non-existent among UIC pharmacy students. The College reflects the diverse composition of its host city as well as the UIC patients it serves.

The College of Pharmacy maintains a good student-faculty ratio. Small class sizes create frequent opportunities for student-to-student interaction and faculty involvement which promote interactive learning.

Supportive Faculty Members
Faculty members at the UIC College of Pharmacy are committed to excellence in education, research, patient care, and community service.  Students have the opportunity to learn from internationally renowned faulty and to be on the cutting edge of breakthroughs in research and lifesaving health care.
Many faculty members are practicing clinical pharmacists. They provide patient care and consultative services to patients at the UIC Medical Center, Veterans Administration Hospitals, and other well-known health care institutions in the greater Chicago area.

Student Organizations

Involvement in student organizations can enhance the learning experience at the College of Pharmacy.  Therefore the College encourages both professional and graduate students to develop leadership skills through educational experience, student organizations and membership in professional associations.

UIC pharmacy students have a variety of student organizations available to them, ranging from professional fraternal societies to national and state professional organizations to student government. Students also have an opportunity to sit on various College and University committees.

A number of honorary organizations are represented in the College of Pharmacy:  Phi Lambda Sigma, Phi Kappa Psi, and the Phi Chapter of Rho Chi.

We Care About You

Because UIC cares greatly about the well being of all of its students, many services are provided for student safety and convenience.  Security is maintained at all times by trained UIC campus police officers.  An individualized "red car" and shuttle bus service are available to transport students to various locations on campus.  Bus service to train stations is available for commuters.
